Where is the Best Saltwater Fishing in Florida?

The best spot for fishing getaways in Florida is just south of Captiva Island near Sanibel Island. Enjoy fishing in that area around Blind Pass and the southern tip of Pine Island.

Where Can I Find Captiva Fishing Tournaments?

Captiva Island and the surrounding area is a fishing mecca and we have the tournaments to prove it. For instance, every year in June the area hosts The World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament and Ladies Day Tarpon Tournament. Ladies get out their pearls and hit the water for their fishing tradition, which is traditionally held the day before Mother’s Day in May. These tournaments are so popular that boats sit all over the pass and you can walk across the boat decks from one island to another!

The World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament has been so popular over the years because it is held in Boca Grande Pass, where tarpon and other lege species of fish father to feed on smaller schools of fish as the water flushes out from the estuary. It’s a fisherman's dream spot! While Captiva Pass and Redfish Pass are also great fishing spots, Boca Grande Pass has been a tarpon fishing hotspot for decades. U.S. Presidents Teddy Roosevelt, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush have all fished this area. So have Charles Lindbergh, J.P. Morgan, Al Capone, Zane Grey and others.

We highly recommend taking advantage of Captiva fishing guide opportunities at Jensen’s Marina™ for a great fishing experience. The local fishing captains know the best fishing getaway spots and make sure you come home with a haul you can be proud of for years to come.

The fishing guides we work with at Jensen’s Marina™ can help you find everything from champion-size Tarpon to a calmer, more relaxed experience off the beaten path. You can plan an early morning before sunrise trip or be out on the boat at sunset reeling in your last catch of the day.
